We all have things we pretend to enjoy, whether it’s to fit in with a certain group or to avoid offending someone. Today we’ll explore some things that Reddit users are convinced that many people are most likely just pretending to enjoy.
One person shared that they find LinkedIn to be full of toxic positivity. While they may use it for professional networking, they don’t actually enjoy it.
Bars and Restaurants with Loud Music
Another person shared that they don’t see the point in being social in a place where they’re trying to make it hard for you to socialize. “Bars and restaurants with loud music and terrible acoustics. What’s the point in being social in a place where they’re trying to make it hard for you to socialize?”
Another person shared that they don’t enjoy podcasts where the hosts just laugh at everything they, other hosts, or guests say. Nothing is that funny for that long.
Long Videos of Friends’ Kids
Another person shared that they don’t enjoy long, boring videos of their friends’ kids. It can be awkward to sit through these videos, especially if they’re not interesting.
One person shared an anecdote: “My aunt once sat down the whole extended family after a dinner and put on a burned DVD. The first 5 minutes were just my cousin riding a merry go round to the song ‘Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing’ by Aerosmith. After a couple minutes we all started laughing and she got mad and turned it off.”
Maintaining YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Personalities
Another person shared that they see the pressure some YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram personalities feel to constantly produce content, and they don’t envy them. It can be exhausting to maintain a persona and feed the machine.
One person shared, “I briefly had mild success with a channel on Youtube 10 years ago and it was nowhere near the level things are now. I see the production value and the regularity of some of the content. And I just think how much pressure these folks must feel to feed the machine or perish.”
Tons of Overtime
Another person shared that they are convinced that many people don’t actually enjoy working lots of overtime. They said, “Tons of overtime. They brag about it like losing most of your time, and your health is all worth it for money.”
Another person shared that they don’t believe anyone is truly happy to be working 2-3 jobs. It can be exhausting and miserable, even if it’s necessary.
Love What You Do
Another person shared that they don’t believe in the saying, “love what you do and you will never work a day in your life.” Even if you love your job, it’s still work.
Another person shared that most people probably don’t enjoy constant drama. “Having constant drama at work, in friend groups, and elsewhere really can’t be all that exciting… can it? If I have one friend causing me too much drama I usually avoid it like it’s the plague.”
Extreme Hot Sauces
Another person shared that they don’t enjoy extreme hot sauces that are so spicy you can’t even taste the food. They said, “Extreme hot sauces. A little spice is OK, but so extreme that you even can not taste food. I am sure nobody enjoys that.”
However, as someone who personally does enjoy hot sauce, I can tell you, we actually do enjoy it.
