Baby Monitor And Sound Machines: 9 Baby Nursery Essentials You Need To Have For Baby’s Arrival
You may be at the stage of your pregnancy when you’re seriously trying to prepare the nursery for your new baby coming soon. And even though you might be planning on co-sleeping or having a bassinet by your bedside for the first few months (recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics), having the baby nursery set up and ready for baby’s arrival is just a good idea. Here in this post, we will talk about all the baby nursery essentials you will need!
Baby mattress
Whether you plan to have a crib or a floor bed, a baby mattress is essential for putting down baby at night or for a nap. I love our 2-in-1 mattress from Walmart, because it comes with a waterproof cover plus theres one side for a new born and another side for a toddler.
Baby monitor
Super essential especially if your house is on the larger side. The baby monitor we got is from Cubo AI and honestly I am obsessed! It’s a bit pricey, but it really has all the things! Plus you can keep using it as baby gets older!

Diaper pail
I love our diaper pail from Diaper Genie. The great thing about it is that you can use it for years to come! Just make sure you get plently of the refills when they go on sale.
Changing table with mobile
Whether you get one second hand or brand new, make sure you have your changing table set up and have a mobile hanging directly on top to keep baby occupied while you’re changing him/her.
Diaper, wipes and rash cream
Keep these items handy on your changing table so that you can easily reach for them when changing diapers.
Sound machine
At the beginning a sound machine will be so useful. You really don’t need a fancy one, the Skip Hop baby sound machine is great and affordable. Plus it’s portable so you can put it on your bassinet, crib, car seat or stroller whenever you need.
Baby clothing, swaddles and muslin cloths
These items are no-brainers, but I have to include it as essentials in your baby nursery. If you haven’t purchased any of these items yet, you really don’t need to until after you have your baby shower (if you’re having one). This is because you will most likely receive some of these items as gifts from your baby shower.
Rocking chair
This one is debatable, and I agree that you can survive without a rocking chair. However, having one will make a world of difference, especially when you are rocking baby to sleep and nursing. If you can snag one second-hand, that’s a great option too!
Nursing pillow
If you are planning to nurse, this is a must! So you and baby can both be comfortable during nursing.
