Modern homes (built in 2000 or newer) often come with an HOA, a restriction I'd prefer to do without. However, I appreciate the aesthetics of modern homes over older ones.
"In North Carolina, HOAs are compulsory in large developments, a rule I think is illogical. Though I dislike HOAs, I appreciate mine for the $69/month amenities like pool, courts, clubhouse, parties and landscape maintenance."
"I've owned houses from the 70s, 90s, & 2006. The quality of construction has dropped drastically over the years. Don't dismiss older homes because they're decades old."
"Our $400/year community has amenities like a pool, playground, marsh, fishing ponds, tennis courts, nature trails and hosts events. They are otherwise relaxed."
