“Two Hour Wait For A Three Minute Ride? No Thanks” Disneyland Is No Longer Worth The Visit
Disneyland has long been known as the “happiest place on earth,” but is it still worth the time and money to visit? One person recently shared their experience at the park, and it raises questions about whether Disneyland is still worth the cost and the wait.
The Queue Problem
One man, we’ll call ‘Terry’ shared that everything at Disneyland is a queue, even for basic necessities like going to the bathroom or eating.
“Literally everything is a queue. Going to the bathroom? Queue. Want to eat? Queue. Want to buy a souvenir? Queue. Want to get a glimpse of something? Queue. I’m not talking about having to stand in line for 5 minutes, I’m talking 20 minute to an hour long lines for things that are not even rides.”
Rides Wait Times Are Worse
Terry also noted that the wait times for rides can be up to two hours, which takes away from the overall experience.
“The rides themselves are just atrocious. Minimum wait times of 2 hours to go on a ride that lasts 3 minutes? If you look at the way these new rides are being built, 99% of the ride is just space for the queue.”
The Cost of Visiting
He also noted that the cost of visiting Disneyland has skyrocketed, saying, “on top of paying nearly $300 for one day at the park (hopper pass), you have to also purchase $20+ passes to get on rides, otherwise you’re going to waste your entire day sitting in a 3 hour line.”
Personal Experience
Terry shared, “We purchased a Genie+ pass which was just enough to get us on a few rides. The one attempt we made to get on a ride without the genie pass, we waited in line for 2 hours only to have the ride break down (of course Disneyland doesn’t do rain checks unless you have a fast pass…)”
The Competition
The author also noted that other amusement parks, like Universal Studios, offer similar ride technology and themed areas for less than half the cost of Disneyland. The author feels that any edge Disneyland has on quality is diminished by the sheer amount of people and lines. “Its hard to notice all the details and work that was put into the park when you are just constantly in a sea of people,” Terry lamented.
Others Weigh In
Many shared their own experiences and echo Terry’s sentiment. One person said, “Anyone that can afford to spend a day at Disneyland can also afford the extra 30-40 bucks for a fast/flash/genie pass. In the words of Syndrome from The Incredibles: “and when everyone is Super…no one will be”.”
