“Spoiled And Ungrateful” Spoiled Daughter Wants A Different Car Than What Her Dad Bought Her

A father is questioning whether he made a mistake by returning his daughter’s car to the dealership.

Parents often wish to acknowledge their children’s efforts and accomplishments. However, what should they do when their child’s response is not what they anticipated? This is the predicament that one father encountered when his daughter reacted negatively to a present he gave her.

Daughter Is Best In Class

The father, who we’ll call John, says his daughter, Hailey, is the best in class. “I have a daughter who was always a ray of sunshine. She was and still is the best student in her class, and very supportive of her peers. My daughter was doing extraordinarily in school, on top of her class work, and was one of the best students of her school.

Father Gifts Daughter a Car

Because of her performance in school, John decides to gift Hailey with a car. “I decided to get her a gift for all her hard work and effort. We will call my daughter Hailey, and I decided to get her a car as a gift for her hard work and effort. I got her a 2020 BMW as a reward.”

Daughter Reacts Poorly

However, Hailey’s reaction was not what John was expecting. “When I showed it to her and let her ride it, she was livid, because for some reason it was ugly, not the newest, and she said she wouldn’t touch it.”

Father Returns Car

“I decided to return her car as I had brought it recently. When I came back home, my daughter asked me where the car went. I told Hailey I returned the car and that I didn’t have it anymore.”

Daughter Wants a New Car

“Hailey asked me if me and her can go to the car dealership to pick out her new car and I told her no. She asked why and I said it was because of her reaction to the car, and that she acted very spoiled and that wasn’t how I taught her to act. I always told her to be grateful for the things that she has, and that because of her reaction, I wouldn’t get her anything as she ruined the reward.”

Family Disagreement

“She told her mom and she told me that I was being mean and that i should just get her the car she wanted, but I stood my ground. Hailey nor my wife will talk to me, and I feel like it might be my fault.”

Should John have given in and bought Hailey a different car?
